Meet Sylvia, from Cal Coast Mahjong
I was raised in Santa Barbara, earned a college education in San Luis Obispo, and now live in Ventura county, California. My life along the central coast naturally paved the way for Cal Coast Mahjong. My passion for American Mahjong began with a group of friends. After only two lessons, we were completely hooked on its complex strategy and intricate rules. That initial spark evolved into a mission to introduce the fun with my family, leading me to become a dedicated instructor. I'm usually playing with friends in our weekly game night, diving into a competitive round of Siamese Mahjong with my husband, or taking on my kids in a spirited match.
I teach complete beginners, as well as those with some experience who are looking to elevate their skills.
My instruction is based on the
National Mah Jongg League rules, so you feel confident to play at any table.
I cultivate an environment where genuine connection and learning go hand-in-hand. Every question is welcomed at the table.
